The present study's theme is hospital dentistry in the prevention of pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation, discussing the issue of what are the main contributions of the dental surgeon in hospital dentistry and in the prevention of pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation?, with the general objective of analyzing and highlight the main contributions of the specialist in hospital dentistry in the prevention of pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation, such as specific objectives to present prevention methods used by the dental surgeon in clinical practice in a hospital environment, contextualize hospital dentistry and its responsibilities and understand the consequences that pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation brings the patient admitted to the intensive care unit and the treatment institution. The methodology used to carry out this research is qualitative research, in the bibliographic modality. The collection of information for bibliographic research was carried out using data from scientific articles, books, and research websites such as pubmed. The expected results are the contextualization of the dental surgeon's role in the hospital environment, in the multidisciplinary care of intensive care units, as well as highlighting the importance of the hospital dentist in preventing VAP, exemplifying the main management used in clinical practice.
