The objective of this work was to approach the concept of electrical energy through the STS approach with 28 5th year students from a public school in the city of Telêmaco Borba – PR, thus introducing Physics in the initial years, as well as working on critical awareness of students. For this work, audio records and photographs were used as data collection instruments. The research has a qualitative and action research nature. Through the worked sequence, we sought to favor dialogicity within the classroom, as well as providing activities with an STS focus to produce greater meaning and context for students. The sequence was worked on in 4 meetings (16 classes). The results show that the approach used helped students' learning, as well as awakening in them reflection on environmental issues. There was interaction and dialogue between teacher-student/student-student, with the teacher being the mediator in the teaching and learning process. From the students' statements, it is believed that they began to care about issues such as saving water, electricity, and concerns about the environment. Proposals like this should be more present in classes in the early years, as this way we would be working with a taste for science from an early age.
