THE IMPORTANCE OF PATERNAL PARTICIPATION IN PRE-NATAL CONSULTATIONS: INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Objective: To summarize the importance of paternal participation in prenatal consultations. Method: Integrative review, carried out in five databases, with a time record from 2017 to 2023, using the descriptors, "Paternity", "Prenatal" and "Pregnancy", and the MesHs were: "Parenting", "Prenatal care' ', “Pregnancy''. Results: Ten productions were selected, in which the participation of the father during the follow-up of the pregnant woman was shown to have a very positive influence. According to the above, the father creates a greater bond with the pregnant woman, supports and assists her throughout the process, increases involvement in the care directed to the baby after birth, as well as strengthens the couple's relationship. Conclusion: In view of the above, the importance of the father's presence in prenatal consultations is essential, as the man can transmit support to the woman, generating security and tranquility during pregnancy and also expanding their knowledge regarding care for the woman's health and her unborn child.
