Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease that leads to dyspnea due to bronchoconstriction because of exacerbated bronchial activity. The pandemic of the new coronavirus, known as VER AQUI SARS, began at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, China, and brought many losses and obstacles due to the unknown pattern of involvement of the virus. One of the risk factors for contracting the illness was having a previous respiratory disease, such as asthma, which apparently would have a negative effect both by increasing the risk of infection, as well as the need of hospitalization, intubation, unfavorable outcomes and death. The goal of this study was to demonstrate a comparison between asthma and COVID-19 using as the analysis criteria infection rate, complications during the disease, sequelae and possible death, making a parallel with both diseases and finally conclude what was the final impact on patients. It was possible to conclude that asthma did not have such a significant impact on the development of severe forms of COVID-19 in the patients analyzed, where around 25 (58,9%) of asthmatics manifested only mild symptoms, 12 (27,9%) required hospitalization for oxygen support and 6 (13,6%) were treated in intensive care unit; Furthermore, no deaths from coronavirus were recorded in the observed population.
