Abstract

Health promotion means empowering the community in order to improve the quality of life and health, in order to develop interventions that transform the potential to become ill in health. This practice can be relevant in several contexts, one of which is the school environment. The method and language for the children have the particularity of using playful strategies as a resource, which are significant for the child's psychic development, since their communication is in the act of playing. This report aims to describe an intervention performed in the territory of a Basic Health Unit (UBS) by residents of the areas of Veterinary Medicine, Dentistry and Psychology, in a Child Education Center (CMEI). Six actions were executed, lasting 30 minutes. Approximately 150 children participated, from 2 to 5 years old. Health education actions proved to be significant in order to seek quality of life, suggesting that more similar activities can be carried out with communities in general.Storytelling combined with playful activities and conversation circles proved to be an effective tool in health promotion.
