Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and mandatory social distancing, face-to-face activities in Brazilian schools were suspended and as a solution to prevent students from losing the school year, emergency remote teaching was implemented, and with this new teaching format, teachers and students faced several challenges, especially in implementing learning. After a period of reduced transmission of the virus and advances in vaccines, the pandemic was eradicated and classes were therefore allowed to resume in person, and due to the various challenges they faced during remote teaching, these students returned with many deficits in learning, in this return we realized that many students were having difficulties developing and learning mathematics content. This article therefore aims to analyze the real reasons that led to this learning not being achieved, taking into account that this study can offer assistance in the development of teaching and learning, in Brazilian education, in this post-pandemic period. . To discuss the challenges and difficulties faced during this period, a study was carried out with students from EJA phase III and IV at Escola Municipal Professora Mariana de Lourdes Lima, in Caruaru – PE, so that we can understand the “gaps” that emerged in the process of learning during the pandemic and understand ways that can solve this deficit, ensuring that this loss is mitigated in the construction of knowledge of mathematical content among these students.
