This article sought to demonstrate that the bond of affection generated in the foster family and host family relationship, based on the principle of the best interests of the child and adolescent, is the guide for approval of adoption by the foster family. However, currently, legislation prohibits foster parents from qualifying for the National Adoption Registry and intending to adopt the fostered child. To this end, the positive effects of foster care as a bridge to adoption were addressed, through the analysis of the priorities established in legislation that met the interests of children and adolescents and demonstrated through bibliographical and doctrinal research on the effectiveness of foster care. familiar. On the other hand, it has been demonstrated that the socio-affective bonds created through foster care are inevitable and must, in each specific case, be analyzed, so that the principle of the best interests of the child and adolescent can be put into practice
