The article's theme is “The importance of leadership and motivation in people management”. Therefore, to highlight that the aspect for the leader to be able to extract the best possible performance from their followers is to use some characteristics of a good manager, among them is to apply people management as a strategy and differential method. And in this way, the manager will be able to develop a competitive advantage and obtain a good relationship with his employees. This article is a quantitative work and the bibliographic research method was used to collect data through a questionnaire sent by email to the company “Platolândia Embreagens”. The general objective of the research was successfully achieved, as were the first two specific objectives. The material used for the composition was data obtained from books, articles, magazines and other resources. The study prepared can be applied to companies, automobile industries and similar industries that need their employees to be excited to deliver good performance and achieve proposed goals. We will demonstrate through the study the importance of leadership in industrial processes and the leadership profile chosen as recommended by employees to perform well.
