This article presents an analysis of the challenges encountered in using Google Classroom for teaching science. The research is part of an ongoing master's thesis entitled “Digital Tools in Education - The Use of Google Classroom for Science Teaching: A Case Study”. The study aims to deepen the understanding of science teaching through the use of Google Classroom, based on an experience carried out with 8th grade students at a public school located in Feira de Santana, Bahia. This work was based on bibliographical research as a methodological reference. Given the realization that digital tools are causing substantial changes in society, with significant impacts on education and school culture, challenging established paradigms in the ways of teaching and learning, our study sought to identify the most common challenges related to the use of Google Classroom. The results point to challenges that transcend science teaching and extend to other subjects, regardless of the pandemic context. These challenges encompass structural issues, technological challenges; lack of adequate teacher training; and access restrictions for students. Knowledge of these challenges shared by other educators has the potential to contribute positively to the success in implementing teaching proposals, by allowing prevention and coping with these issues more effectively.
