Abstract

This article sought to discuss the management and feeding of beef cattle in a confinement system. The current work carries out research on cattle confinement systems, a method that is still under development in Brazil and includes short-term slaughter of animals and diets rich in grains. Therefore, this is a high cost for the producer, but it can increase the profitability of the asset if used appropriately. Regarding methodology, this study is based on a bibliographical review of scientific articles, books, as well as theses that address the proposed topic. Sources were selected that establish a dialogue with each other, in order to deal with the implementation of the management of beef cattle that are in a confinement system, so that it is possible to develop a discussion between the authors. To achieve the objectives of this phase, tables were created with characteristics of the articles analyzed and a table for categorizing the studies. The factors that help in the adequate management and feeding of beef cattle in a confinement system were discussed. The practice of confinement makes it possible to meet the demand for animals, including young animals that are properly finished. However, producers must pay attention to the production system and the economy, to achieve success in their work. It is important that the producer stays up to date. When deciding to set up a confinement, it is necessary to seek technical support, as well as more technical and legal information to achieve better production safely, respecting animals and the environment.
