This article aims to analyze the implementation of the Association for the Protection and Assistance of Convicts (APAC) as a Public Policy mechanism for resocialization in the Brazilian prison system. In this way, he used the hypothetical-deductive method, with an exploratory approach. Data were collected through bibliographic and documentary research. Currently, the Brazilian prison system is in a precarious situation, unable to comply with the guidelines established by the Penal Execution Law (LEP) that prioritize resocialization as a way of enabling the prisoner's reintegration into society after serving their sentence. The current system does not prioritize criminal and humanitarian guidelines, leading prisoners to greater segregation and the stigma of 'former convict'. Through a historical analysis of punishment and the Brazilian prison system, the LEP's guidelines were verified in relation to its objectives. With the analysis of the APAC Method, it was concluded that the current system does not achieve the objectives of the LEP and that APAC can be an important instrument for the implementation of criminal and humanitarian guidelines. Therefore, it is possible to consider the implementation of APAC as a Public Policy, since the lack of resocialization of the convict is a problem of public and social interest.
