Abstract

This article aims to analyze the absence of Libras-Portuguese interpreters, with training to work in the legal sphere, to assist Deaf people in the legal sphere, as a way of complying with the principle of human dignity, as well as ensuring the Deaf people's right to access to justice. To achieve this objective, the explanatory research method was adopted, with a qualitative approach. The results of this research revealed that, despite the existence of legal guarantees in favor of Deaf people, many are not implemented effectively, since access to justice for Deaf people begins with their right to have a language interpreter. Libras trained for the legal context. The shortage of these professionals is evident, which compromises access to justice for Deaf people, violating their rights. Therefore, it is concluded that it is essential to invest in the professionalization of Libras-Portuguese interpreters, as well as in the training of these professionals, to act competently in the legal sphere. This is essential to ensure access to justice for Deaf people, breaking down language barriers, promoting the inclusion and accessibility of Deaf people within the legal sphere.
