This article aims to analyze the positive impact of applying active methodologies, such as Maker Culture and the STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) on the lives of students deprived of liberty. By integrating active teaching methods, such as problem-based and collaborative learning, withMaker Culture and the STEAM approach, the prison system can provide meaningful educational opportunities. To this end, the methodology adopted for this research was that of the academic essay, which consisted of an analysis and critical synthesis of studies on the topic. Finally, it is highlighted that the implementation of new active methodologies promotes personal transformation, increased self-esteem and the acquisition of technical skills by students. By preparing them for social reintegration, this innovative approach also contributes to a reduction in recidivism and a fairer and more inclusive society.
