Abstract

Alveoloplasty is a surgical technique that aims to regularize bone defects and/or unevenness in the alveolar ridge that may hinder prosthetic adaptation, which makes it an effective strategy to ensure adequate adaptation of the prosthesis and improve the rehabilitation prognosis. The relevance of this case report lies in the inexorability of bone remodeling in the face of tooth loss. Thus, the objective was to demonstrate the feasibility of the alveoloplasty surgical procedure, as a possibility of regularizing defects in the alveolar ridge, through a clinical case of an 83-year-old female patient, which was performed in an outpatient setting under local anesthesia. and with as little invasiveness as possible without, however, reducing the efficiency of the surgical technique in question. Based on the results obtained with the procedure and when reviewing the literature on the proposed technique, it can be inferred that the alveoloplasty technique is a viable proposal for regularizing the ridge for prosthetic purposes.
