Abstract

Play plays a fundamental role in children's development and learning, allowing children to explore their bodies, interact with the world around them, and develop essential motor and cognitive skills. This theoretical essay highlights the importance of playing, addressing how playful activities and toys contribute to psychomotor development and the acquisition of knowledge. The text offers definitions of play and child development processes, serving as a basis for education and health professionals who wish to use play as a tool to stimulate psychomotor growth and learning in educational contexts for children.
