Abstract

This article presents the importance of the psychologist's work in the school environment, describing the history of this profession's insertion in this context. Furthermore, it discusses the role of the psychology professional in the contemporary challenges of formal teaching spaces in Brazil, thus presenting a field to mediate the development of human beings. The methodology of the present work is through a narrative literature review, through articles, periodicals and magazines with scientific content, which were accessed through databases, namely: Scientific Electronic Library (SCIELO), Google Scholar and Electronic Journals in Psychology (PEPSIC). It is hoped that this study has contributed with information that enriches the debate and study on the technical knowledge of school psychology, and its challenges, especially in a scenario marked by the admission of psychologists into the public education network, through Law No. 13,935/2019 , cooperating with new knowledge for scientific and professional Psychology entities.
