Abstract

The research presented is initially based on the discipline of Physical Education, in a School Unit of the State Education Network, City of Vassouras, Rio de Janeiro. The general objective of this study is to design an interdisciplinary pedagogical intervention based on the Chess Game, in classes 1001 and 1002, of the 1st year of Regular High School, morning shift, at Colégio Estadual Centenário, as an educational sports tool, with the expectation of improving the school performance in 2014 and with the specific objective of identifying the problem of student performance and indiscipline in 2013; relate the curriculum of the State of Rio de Janeiro to the project and define, with the Teachers involved, the contents that will be applied; plan and execute the interdisciplinary project based on the Chess Game, with the implementation of technology and measure whether there was a reduction in the levels of disciplinary incidents after the action plan. The research was carried out in three stages: first, the theoretical foundation on the relationship between general Games and the Game of Chess with Physical Education, academic performance and indiscipline, interdisciplinarity and implementation of technology in the educational sports context; second, data collection at the School Unit and application of a semi-structured questionnaire to students and teachers; the analysis of collected data and its conclusion. The Centenário State College was used as a research field. The approach used was qualitative and quantitative, being an exploratory research, in theoretical and descriptive aspects regarding the construction of empirical data, displayed in the form of graphs for better understanding. In the results obtained, positive aspects can be demonstrated regarding the evolution of academic performance. It is concluded that the use of an educational sports action plan is very useful for providing motivation for studies and creating a more harmonious environment in the teaching-learning process. However, other interdisciplinarity projects can also be promoted as experiments, in a way to encourage students to study and improve the teacher/student relationship environment.
