This article addresses the importance of games in early childhood education, with the aim of understanding and presenting the contribution to the child's educational process. The objective of this research was to discover and combine the theories of the authors on the subject, so that games can be encouraged and established as aids in the development of children's manual and motor skills. The research with a bibliographical approach had the authors: Vygostsky, Piaget, Kishimoto and Friedmann and other theories that support this subject. After discussing the topic, the importance of educational games and other playful activities in the teaching process and in the initial development of children is understood in accordance with the theories discussed.
