This article sought to understand how the teaching of the Unified Health System is carried out at a university, evaluating the knowledge of Medicine students at 2 different moments during graduation: basic cycle and clinical cycle. The SUS is one of the largest and most complex health systems in the world and around 73% of medical professionals work in the public sector. The evaluation will be carried out through a questionnaire and how responses will be analyzed and compared in order to understand the degree of familiarity of future physiciand with the SUS. It is expected that students' knowledge will be built gradually and will be better established at the end of the clinical cycle, when they will be about to enter internship and have broader contact with clinical practice, especially with the public health environment.
