This article presents a narrative review that explores the theme of media education in school physical education. The objective is to present an overview of the subject, highlighting the perspective of the author Mônica Fantin and discussing the benefits and challenges of incorporating media education in this context. Media education is an educational approach that understands the media, in its methodological, critical and productive dimensions, as a resource for teaching and learning. In school physical education, media education can play an important role in transforming pedagogical practices, allowing students to explore and learn in more engaging and meaningful ways. Mônica Fantin's perspective highlights the importance of a critical and reflective approach to the media. She emphasizes the need for students to develop media literacy skills by questioning the veracity of information, analyzing stereotypical representations and reflecting on the impact of media on their lives. By incorporating media education into physical education, students have the opportunity to use audiovisual resources, applications and digital media to improve their motor skills, monitor their physical progress and reflect on issues related to body culture, gender and inclusion. However, the effective implementation of media education in physical education faces challenges. It is necessary to provide adequate teacher training so that teachers understand the role of media and technologies, providing different perspectives and using them effectively. Additionally, it is important to ensure equitable access to technology and address ethical and safety concerns related to the use of digital and social media. In summary, media education in school physical education brings significant benefits, such as student engagement, contextualized learning, development of media literacy skills, promotion of health and well-being, in addition to stimulating creativity and expression. However, effective implementation requires overcoming challenges such as teacher training, access to technology and ethical considerations. Media education in physical education has the potential to enrich students' learning experience, preparing them to be critical and responsible citizens in a media-mediated world.
