Cervical cancer is a disease that, throughout history, has posed a significant threat to the health of women around the world. In the past, there has been an absence of training programs and advanced treatments at high rates of morbidity and mortality. However, over the years there have been substantial improvements in the clinical and surgical evaluation of this condition, leading to an increase in the effectiveness of available diagnoses and treatments. Objective: to explore the clinical and surgical evaluation of cervical cancer. Methodology: A comprehensive search was conducted in the PubMed, Scielo and Web of Science databases to identify relevant scientific articles, studies and books. The study shook up the PRISMA checklist. 5 descriptors were selected: Cervical cancer, Clinical evaluation, Surgical evaluation, Historical evolution and Current functionality. Inclusion Criteria: Publications in English were included, publications related to the historical evolution of the clinical and surgical evaluation of cervical cancer. Exclusion Criteria: Studies not in English, studies not relevant to the topic and publications with convenient methodology were excluded. Results: 15 articles were selected. The systematic review revealed that throughout history, the clinical evaluation of cervical cancer has evolved from rudimentary exams to advanced screening techniques, such as the Pap test and HPV detection. Furthermore, surgical advances such as radical hysterectomy and laparoscopy have transformed the treatment of the disease. The results also highlighted the importance of developing large-scale screening and public awareness programs, which will lead to a significant reduction in cervical cancer incidence and mortality. Conclusion: The clinical and surgical evaluation of cervical cancer has undergone a significant transformation throughout history. Innovative improvements over time have resulted in earlier diagnoses, more effective treatments and a positive impact on women's health. The current functionality of these approaches represents a notable advancement in the care and prevention of this disease, highlighting the continued importance of research and public education in this area.
