The prison context presents complex challenges, and understanding how psychotropic drugs influence students' behavior, their motivation for education and the risk of dropping out of school is extremely important for their reintegration into society. This article aims to discuss the correlation between the use of psychotropic drugs in the behavior, motivation and school dropout of students in deprivation of liberty. Intervention means and strategies to promote education and mental health are also presented, as well as the ethical and social issues of administering these drugs in educational environments in prisons. Therefore, the methodology adopted was the theoretical essay, which consisted of an analysis and critical synthesis of studies on mental health, education and the use of psychotropic drugs in prison environments.
