This article aims to discuss the implications of the use of psychotropic drugs in the learning process of incarcerated women. The methodology used was the theoretical essay, which consisted of an analysis and critical synthesis of studies on the prison environment, the learning process and the use of psychotropic drugs in this context. Thus, the research highlighted that the prison context influences the impact of medications on cognition and learning, including side effects and the lack of psychosocial support and reintegration into society. The lack of detailed studies in this area has revealed significant gaps, requiring personalized treatment approaches. It became clear that the use of psychotropic medications cannot be the only approach to rehabilitation; a holistic approach is key, integrating alternative therapies and education.
