Abstract

This article aims to weave reflections in light of the re-discussion of the reality of students in the 3rd year of Elementary School regarding indiscipline and the problems caused in the initial series. Its specific objectives are: a) to conceptualize school discipline and indiscipline, presenting relevant concepts and considerations on the subject; b) reflect on the disciplining process in the school context, presenting the reality of the school in view of the students' indiscipline attitudes; c) investigate how teachers understand the reality of indiscipline committed by 3rd grade students. year of Elementary School, collecting information from the teachers themselves about the acts of indiscipline committed by the students. The justification for choosing the theme is guided, initially, by the knowledge of this reality and by the constant need for studies and analyzes about the indisciplinary attitudes of students since the beginning of their educational trajectory. In this sense, it is necessary that the school, in the person of its school segments, reflect on the reality of the student and his predisposition to learn. The subject of indiscipline is very complex, as there are multiple causes, since it articulates several dimensions. Furthermore, it takes different forms in our present society, forms that did not exist in societies of past times. For a long time, parents took their children to school, mothers took care of their children's homework, helping them with their homework, and they were submissive to their parents and teachers. This family context model can characterize an element that the student does not understand and the school is the place where the student presents his non-compliance with the family model of which he is a part. Faced with this problem, the question arises: what can cause indiscipline in the classroom? To answer this question, help was sought from the following theorists: Aquino (2001); Antunes (2005); Tiba (2006); Foucault (2007) and Vasconcellos (2009) among others. Investigating the theme more particularly, the research object was used, a public school in the city of Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. The field research was carried out through interviews with a sample of 10 teachers, making it possible to recognize the theme and consolidate the information referring to the consulted authors. It is considered that studies of an exploratory nature on the subject of school indiscipline should be maintained, in the sense that, whenever an intervention is needed to improve the school climate, the school has effectively carried out this, based on a prior reflection on their actions and decision making to minimize and eradicate school indiscipline.
