Abstract

The study of the influence of African and Afro-Brazilian games on Brazilian school education is crucial to promote an inclusive and enriching educational approach that recognizes and celebrates the cultural and historical diversity of Brazil, contributing to the formation of conscious, respectful and empowered citizens. In this sense, this article examined the essential role of African and Afro-Brazilian games as formative elements in school education, highlighting the subversive and playful play rooted in cultural and historical roots. Throughout the text, it is discussed how these practices promote interdisciplinarity, develop social and emotional skills, contribute to the education of ethnic-racial relations and impact the teaching-learning process. Considering final considerations and future perspectives, the importance of embracing play as vital pedagogical tools is emphasized, to build an inclusive and empowering educational environment that celebrates cultural diversity and promotes a deeper understanding of Afro-descendant identities and their contributions to society.
