Abstract

Introduction: Generally due to the set of experiences in the hospital environment, mainly with regard to the functions of the nurse, there is an increase in cases of suicide committed by nursing professionals, which, in short, begin with depression. Objective: To analyze and identify the main factors that lead nursing professionals to commit suicide and the specific objective is to explore the factors associated with depression and the risk of suicide among nursing professionals. Materials and Methods: Qualitative bibliographical research, the exclusion criteria were articles in disagreement with the theme. Inclusion criteria were 16 articles that matched the theme in question and the descriptors. Result: Depression, suicide, Burnout Syndrome, statistics of depressive symptoms in nursing professionals, main factors that wash the suicide attempt and related studies such as work environment, stress, remuneration, alcoholism and anxiety will be addressed. Conclusion: The main factors that lead nursing professionals to commit suicide may be related mainly to the work environment, overload, devaluation and even living with patients in depression, this factor has had a significant increase in recent years, as such professionals are more likely to develop psychological disorders and increase a greater risk of suicide.
