Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is considered the second most common cause of genital infection in women. In view of this, it is common for self-diagnosis to occur followed by self-medication, which contributes to the increase in VVC recurrence. Thus, the objective of this work was to link the pharmacist in this scenario. This is a literature review of the narrative type through a search in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), National Library of Medicine (PubMed) and Scopus databases, using descriptors related to CVV, pharmacist, prescriptions, community pharmacy, self-medication, pharmaceutical care, women's health and health education. In addition, from other sources that are necessary for the subsequent creation of a practical health guide for pharmacists. The research resulted in 20 studies found discussing, this one listing the main characteristics of VVC, pharmaceutical care in pharmacological and non-pharmacological measures, and awareness about the rational use of medicines. It is concluded in this work that VVC is a condition with signs and symptoms that bring discomfort, directly influencing the routine of the female public. Self-diagnosis followed by self-medication is common. Pharmacists play an important role in this scenario. A practical guide can bring confidence to the day-to-day routine of community pharmacy.
