Abstract

Introduction: Social networks can influence users in the way they think and behave, because the self-image of adolescents may be linked to the time of exposure to social networks. Objective: The study seeks to identify the relationship between the pattern of use of social networks and the self-image of adolescents. Methodology: Quantitative survey study conducted through a convenience sample of 62 adolescents. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data in the general sample by gender. Results: It was possible to identify the relationship between the time of exposure to social media and the body dissatisfaction of adolescents. Conclusion: The study confirms the relationship between the time of use of social media and dissatisfaction with self-image in girls, thus it is suggested to carry out research and interventions for both factors highlighted in the study.
