MATHEMATICAL PROJECTION FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A WATER TREATMENT PLANT IN THE CITY OF SÃO JOÃO BATISTA DO GLÓRIA

Abstract

Water treatment plants play a crucial role in providing safe and quality drinking water to the population. These facilities are responsible for removing impurities, contaminants and pathogens from raw water, making it suitable for human consumption and other uses. The plant's water treatment process involves several steps, each designed to remove different types of pollutants and ensure water safety. The present article aimed at a mathematical projection model for the installation of a water treatment plant in the city of São João Batista do Glória, located in the southwest of Minas Gerais (Brazil), projections were carried out based on a statistical model of population growth for the population of 2035, a head loss model was carried out based on the Hazen-Williams equation, which is a method used to estimate pressure losses in water pipes, commonly used in water supply and distribution systems. This method considers the roughness of the pipe and the internal diameter to calculate the pressure drop as a function of the volumetric flow and the coefficient of roughness, other important aspects were also dimensioned within the Water Treatment Station, such as dimensioning of the Parshall gutter, flocculators and decanters necessary for the water treatment process.
