The objective of this work was to evaluate the benefits of group psychotherapy, through bibliographical research of different authors, where it was possible to observe that this therapeutic approach presents several benefits, such as the promotion of emotional well-being, development of social skills and problem solving. conflicts. It was possible to consider that group psychotherapy is an effective and accessible approach, which can be used in different circumstances and with different population groups. During the development of this work, it was possible to learn a lot about group psychotherapy and its efficiency in different contexts. It was possible to understand the importance of group work for the emotional and social development of members, as well as the main challenges faced by therapists in conducting group sessions. In addition, it was possible to improve my research capacity and critical analysis of scientific literature. Based on studies by Yalom (2005), it was possible to investigate the benefits of group psychotherapy. The justification for choosing this theme was the fact that group psychotherapy has been increasingly used as an effective therapeutic resource, but there is still little research that investigates its benefits in depth, some limitations, such as the analysis being restricted to a number limited number of studies and the predominance of studies carried out in developed countries. The approach chosen for the analysis of the studies may have limited the understanding of some important aspects of group psychotherapy. However, it is believed that the results presented in this work contribute to the understanding of the benefits and challenges of group psychotherapy, as well as to improve its application in different contexts. The methodology used will be the literature review, with analysis of studies and articles that address the topic in question. From this, it will be possible to identify the main advantages of group psychotherapy, as well as the necessary conditions for its effectiveness. Studies indicate that group psychotherapy can provide a safe and welcoming environment that favors the development of social, emotional and cognitive skills. In addition, the group can act as an emotional support and offer new perspectives and solutions to the participants' problems. Given these results, it is concluded that group psychotherapy can be a valuable alternative for those seeking psychological help. However, it is important to emphasize that the effectiveness of group therapy depends on factors such as the profile of the participants, the therapist's ability to lead the group and the adequate selection of members. It was possible to verify that group psychotherapy presents several benefits in the treatment of chemical dependents, promoting emotional and social improvement, in addition to preventing relapses. Furthermore, it was found that this therapeutic approach is accessible and can be used in different contexts and population groups. Finally, the results found in this work point to the effectiveness of group psychotherapy as an important therapeutic approach in the treatment of chemical dependents. These results are relevant for clinical practice, and can be used to improve the performance of professionals who work with chemical dependents and for the elaboration of public policies aimed at the treatment of chemical dependence. Due to the relevance of the topic, this study can be used as a basis for future research on group psychotherapy for chemically dependent people. Finally, it is believed that this work may have contributed to improving clinical practice in group psychotherapy and stimulating further research on the subject.
