Abstract

This article aims to demonstrate the strength of Tocantins for the implementation and development of poultry and swinwe. To this end, the state was characterized, relating the needs of these production chains to the region's potential in terms of grain production (soybeans and corn), availability of labor and infrastructure – mainly roads, energy and communication. The study concludes that the State of Tocantins has the basic conditions for the development of these chains, but the decision to implement these businesses and the speed of their development and consolidation will depend on coordinated and synergistic actions by the private sector and representatives of municipal and state governments, being necessary that they exercise their inducing functions, stimulating investment and creating the conditions for the implementation of these chains.
