Amputation is the term used to define the total or partial removal of a limb, which is a treatment method for several diseases. It is important to emphasize that amputation should always be seen within a general context of treatment and not as its only part, whose purpose is to provide an improvement in the patient's quality of life. The present work is qualitative bibliographical research, of descriptive character, with retrospective data collection. Through the guiding question the role of physiotherapy in the amputee patient. Physiotherapy is widely used in the treatment of amputees regardless of the cause, as it has resources that can help reduce undesirable symptoms and patient evolution, which can contribute through intervention, helping through physiotherapeutic rehabilitation in the abolition of sensation. and phantom pain and increased range of motion.
