Antimicrobials are substances produced by fungi, yeasts or bacteria, which act fighting microorganisms, with the ability to inhibit the growth of certain bacteria or fungi. However, after their emergence, even with the saving of many lives and disease control, bacterial resistance has developed due to numerous factors such as the indiscriminate and prolonged use of antimicrobials or even intrinsic and acquired factors. Therefore, the general objective is to analyze the role of the pharmacist in patients who make indiscriminate use of antimicrobials in Brazil. Methodology: This is a systematic literature review, 30 scientific articles were selected for this review in the period from 2018 to 2013, limited to the Portuguese language. The results found were high rates of resistance mostly in hospital settings, especially in patients in ICUs. Finally, this article shows how the pharmacist can act to help reduce the rates of bacterial resistance in Brazil.
