This review aims to compare the benefits between the efficacy of UFH and Enoxaparin in reducing mortality in adult patients at increased risk or victims of PTE. The search for articles was carried out using the terms “Unfractionated heparin”, “Low-Molecular-Weight-heparin” and “Pulmonary Embolism” in addition to the Boolean operator “and”, through a broad review of the literature using the Cochrane Library, the National Library of Medicine (PubMed), the Cochrane Library (CL), and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). Of the 07 studies, 01 addressed the use of LMWH versus UFH in therapeutic action in patients who were candidates for thrombolysis and victims of PTE. The remaining 06 studies evaluated the safety and/or effectiveness of LMWH versus UFH in the prophylaxis of patients with risk criteria for PTE. Table 1 brings together the main results found in all the studies that comprise these results. Thus, it was observed that LMWH is superior in PTE prophylaxis for unstable patients.
