This article addresses the challenges of teaching in middle school (grades 6-9), focusing on the difficulties faced by teachers, the pedagogical strategies used, and the possibilities for strengthening educational practice. The objective was to analyze the main factors that interfere with teaching work and to understand how teachers deal with situations related to indiscipline, student demotivation, learning difficulties, conflicts, and lack of family support. The research has a quantitative and descriptive approach, conducted through an online questionnaire composed of 18 closed questions, answered by 32 teachers from municipal, state, and private schools. The results showed that indiscipline constitutes the main challenge, followed by lack of family support, student demotivation, and learning difficulties. Frequent episodes of disrespect and verbal aggression were also identified. Among the most used strategies were practical activities, interactive lectures, and differentiated activities. The data also point to the need for greater institutional support and teacher training focused on conflict mediation and behavioral issues. It is concluded that addressing these challenges requires coordinated actions among teachers, school management, families, and the community, promoting a more meaningful and effective pedagogical practice.
