Abstract

This narrative review summarizes the chemical composition and pharmacological activities of Lippia origanoides. Based on a comprehensive analysis of published studies, we consolidated information on its main bioactive compounds and therapeutic potential. The species contains phenolic compounds, monoterpenes, and flavonoids, such as thymol, carvacrol, and naringenin, linked to antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, and neuromodulatory effects. Despite its promising bioactivity, chemotypic diversity poses challenges for standardization and reproducibility. Further research, including clinical validation, is needed to fully explore its biological applications.
