ELECTORAL LAW IN THE AMAZON: CHALLENGES AND PERSPECTIVES FOR MUNICIPALITIES AND RIVERINE COMMUNITIES

Abstract

This article analyzes the challenges faced by the Electoral Justice in the State of Amazonas to ensure the exercise of voting rights in riverine and indigenous communities. Based on a qualitative approach, supported by bibliographic and documentary review, it examines how geographic, logistical, and sociocultural factors impact the effectiveness of universal suffrage in the Amazon region. The study demonstrates that although the normative structure of the Brazilian electoral system is solid, its application in hard-to-reach territories requires constant institutional adaptations. It concludes that investments in technology, logistics, and contextualized political education are essential for consolidating full citizenship and strengthening participatory democracy in the Amazon.
