THE EMOTIONAL ASPECTS OF INDIVIDUALS WITH ALZHEIMER'S IN FACE OF THE EVOLUTION OF THE DISEASE

Abstract

This article sought to discuss the emotional aspects of patients with Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and the care provided by nurses, highlighting essential strategies and interventions to ensure quality care and promote well-being on the part of nurses. Methodology: This is a descriptive bibliographic review with a qualitative approach carried out between the periods 2019 and 2024, using the health descriptors: elderly, nursing care, Alzheimer's disease in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) and Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) It is observed that the emotional aspects of the individual with Alzheimer's, such as confusion, frustration, anxiety, sadness and fear, reflect the complexity of the disease and the loss of autonomy, requiring an empathetic approach, individualized and integrative care for patients with Alzheimer's, through strategies aimed at effective communication, the creation of a welcoming environment and emotional support for both the patient and their families. It is noted that the work of the nursing team when caring for patients with Alzheimer's is permeated by a variety of emotional aspects that require emotional management skills, empathy, self-care and institutional support to ensure the quality of care provided and the well-being -being of the professionals involved.
