Abstract

The article is part of a master's thesis in Education Sciences, which aimed to analyze how play contributes to the teaching-learning process in Early Childhood Education at the Municipal Early Childhood Education Center in Brejo da Madre de Deus, Pernambuco. The methodology employed combined bibliographic research, focusing on a qualitative approach, with the application of questionnaires to the teachers surveyed. The results confirm the relevance of play for the integral development of children, with teachers recognizing its importance for meaningful learning. In addition, varied play strategies are used, despite challenges such as limited material resources and the precariousness of some physical structures. It is concluded that play is an indispensable component of early childhood education, being more of a teaching approach than a set of activities, and that the creativity and resilience of teachers are fundamental to its effective application, even in limited contexts. The research reinforces the need for greater investment in resources and continuing education for educators.
