Abstract

This collection brings together a set of articles that, although distinct in their subject matter, engage in dialogue by addressing central themes for understanding, innovating, and improving contemporary educational practices. Each text offers grounded reflections, research findings, and proposals that, together, broaden our understanding of the challenges and potential of the teaching and learning process in different contexts and modalities.

The volume begins with "Learning Environments for E-Learning," which discusses the structure, essential elements, and pedagogical strategies that make virtual environments effective, interactive, and student-centered spaces. Next, "Participatory Assessment and Planning: The Importance of SWOT Analysis in Strengthening the School Community" presents the integration of diagnostic assessment and collaborative planning as a pillar for strengthening democratic management and co-accountability in schools.

The third article, "Maker Culture in Education: Foundations and Challenges of Educational Practice," explores the theoretical and practical foundations of this approach, highlighting its potential to promote active, creative, and collaborative learning, as well as the challenges of its implementation. "Neuroscience and Educational Technology: Interfaces, Challenges, and Potential for Learning in the 21st Century" analyzes how neuroscientific advances and digital tools, when integrated critically and responsibly, can personalize and enhance educational experiences.

The work also includes "Self-Directed Learning and Online Free Courses: Characteristics, Advantages, and Disadvantages," which investigates the role of autonomy and self-motivation in the development of independent learners, especially in contexts of courses without tutoring. Finally, "Motivation and Retention in EJA: An Analysis in Light of Pedagogical Practice" highlights the role of affectivity, qualified listening, and structural conditions in the retention of young people and adults in school.

This body of research aims to provide a diverse and articulated overview of emerging issues in education. The analyses and proposals presented here encourage dialogue, critical reflection, and the search for creative and inclusive solutions, reaffirming that 21st-century education demands innovation, sensitivity, and a commitment to social transformation.
