This article proposes an integration between the psychological approaches of Carl Rogers and D.W. Winnicott, aiming for an enhanced understanding of human development. Rogers' humanistic perspective emphasizes the individual's innate capacity for lifelong self-development, with psychotherapy playing a crucial role in self-actualization. Rogers' therapeutic approach, characterized by empathy, unconditional acceptance, and authenticity, facilitates client transformation and the reorganization of self-image. On the other hand, Winnicott's theory of personal maturation highlights that individual constitution does not result from the Oedipus Complex but rather from an innate tendency for growth and interpersonal relationships. The mother-infant relationship is crucial in this process, directly influencing human formation. The integration of these approaches reveals a holistic view of human development, making the therapeutic relationship a conducive environment for personal growth. Psychotherapy, inspired by these perspectives, seeks to consider the specific stage of emotional development, customizing the approach to promote emotional growth. Thus, the integration of Rogers and Winnicott offers therapeutic synergy, combining an emphasis on the actualizing tendency and genuine interpersonal relations with the significance of the environment in shaping the self. This integrative approach promotes a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of human development, respecting the uniqueness of each individual.
