Abstract

This article aimed to analyze the impacts of emerging technologies in the contemporary educational context, focusing on the effects of excessive digital stimuli on the interest and school engagement of high school students. The research was developed through a qualitative, exploratory, and scientific bibliographic review using academic articles, books, and studies published between 2018 and 2026 in national and international databases. The study discusses how the excessive use of social networks, digital platforms, short videos, and constant technological stimuli may negatively influence concentration, motivation for studying, and students’ participation in traditional school activities. In addition, the role of emerging technologies as pedagogical tools capable of promoting more interactive and participatory methodologies aligned with the demands of digital society is analyzed. The results indicate that, although technological resources expand learning possibilities, excessive and uncontrolled use may contribute to attention fragmentation, learning difficulties, and school disengagement. It is concluded that the balance between technological innovation, pedagogical mediation, and socio-emotional development is essential to strengthen more meaningful and humanized educational practices.
