This study aims to analyze the theories of Henri Wallon and bell hooks, highlighting how the understanding of the affective dimension in teaching-learning processes, combined with a pedagogy engaged in freedom, can support continuing education initiatives in the health sector, based on the experiences of PET-Health Equity Group 5 Jequié. A bibliographic review of Wallon’s and hooks’ theories was conducted, along with a qualitative analysis of the materials and practices developed by Group 5 Jequié within the program. Engaging with these authors’ works facilitated the creation of welcoming and democratic environments, positively impacting professionals’ awareness of social inequalities. It is concluded that integrating the works of Henri Wallon and bell hooks can aid in the development of pedagogical practices for the continuing education of health professionals.
