This preliminary study describes the manifestations of burnout syndrome (BS) in teaching physicians at the Universidad del Sol (UNADES) in Paraguay, using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) on a sample of 28 participants. The results revealed heterogeneous patterns, highlighting emotional exhaustion with fatigue and weariness reported by a significant portion of the sample. Depersonalization generally showed a low tendency, although 25% of the faculty indicated high indifference towards the people they cared for. Personal accomplishment showed great variability, with divided opinions on effectiveness and work morale, though most reported a positive influence on others. Despite methodological limitations such as the adapted Likert scale and reduced sample size, which prevent determining formal prevalence or standardized comparisons, the study identifies areas of concern in emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. It concludes that more robust research is needed and suggests the institution consider support strategies for its teaching staff's well-being.
