Abstract

This article is a study on the crisis in the prison system and the challenges of resocialization. Through a literature review with bibliographical research in which information is sought in books, magazines, publications and other materials on the subject. Among the objectives is the search for more information on the topic. The situation of the Brazilian prison system is chaotic and worrying, due to overcrowding, lack of basic health care, among other problems. In addition to having their freedom deprived, inmates lose their human dignity, a right that should never be violated. Resocialization cannot be achieved and the high rates of recidivism demonstrate this, and this is largely due to prejudice on the part of society.
