Childbirth and birth care have undergone important transformations in recent decades, especially with the implementation of public policies aimed at the humanization of obstetric care and the adoption of evidence-based practices. In this context, obstetric nursing professionals play a fundamental role in promoting safe, humanized, and woman-centered care. The present study aims to evaluate the feasibility of applying the care protocol of good childbirth and birth practices in nursing professional practice. This is a bibliographic review research with a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory approach, developed through the analysis of scientific articles, guidelines, and official documents published by national and international organizations from 1940 to 2026. The results show that the adoption of good practices contributes to the reduction of unnecessary interventions, improvement of maternal and child health indicators, and strengthening of women’s protagonism during the childbirth and birth process. However, challenges related to service infrastructure, work overload, institutional resistance, and the need for continuous professional training still persist. It is concluded that the effective implementation of good practices depends on strengthening public policies, the continuous and permanent qualification of multidisciplinary teams, and the valorization and autonomy of obstetric nursing as a protagonist of care, strategic elements for consolidating a humanized and evidence-based care model, promoting positive experiences and improvements in maternal and child health indicators.
