Abstract

This article analyzes academic planning and management as crucial elements for the effectiveness of higher education institutions. It addresses the concept of academic planning, its purposes, and its importance in the context of teaching and administrative activities. The methodology employed is bibliographic and documentary, with analysis of relevant legislation, theoretical references, and models of academic plans. The results highlight the relevance of the Teaching Activities Planning System (SISPLAD) as a management support tool, as well as the need for a well-structured academic plan that includes identification, syllabus, programmatic content, objectives, methodology, resources, evaluation, and bibliography. The discussion emphasizes the importance of planning for the articulation between teaching, research, and extension, and for compliance with legal and normative guidelines. It is concluded that academic planning and management are dynamic and interdependent processes that require the active participation of teachers and managers, aiming at the quality and relevance of higher education.
