Abstract

Autism is recognized as a chronic and complex neurodevelopmental condition, resulting from multifactorial etiological brain dysfunctions, with the cause unknown in approximately 80% of cases. Many children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) exhibit early sensory challenges and limited motor skills. Therapies focusing on sensory stimulation, as well as visual and auditory approaches, sensory-motor control techniques, and physical activities, have shown positive effects. Objective: To analyze the importance of neuropsychomotor stimulation in the development of children with ASD. Methodology: This study is an integrative literature review, conducted by searching the MEDLINE and LILACS databases between the years 2013 and 2023. Results: Regarding the importance of neuropsychomotor stimulation in the development of children with ASD, 06 studies meeting the inclusion criteria were selected, including 1 literature review, 1 longitudinal/descriptive/analytical study, 1 retrospective study, 2 experimental researches, and 1 cross-sectional/quantitative/experimental study. Conclusion: Neuropsychomotor stimulation is crucial for children with ASD, expanding their motor abilities in the face of challenges, promoting well-being and satisfaction through playful and enjoyable activities.
