Zika virus infection during pregnancy can have significant impacts on fetal growth and development, leading to complications such as microcephaly and other fetal anomalies. The literature review carried out points to the importance of early diagnosis of the infection, the adoption of preventive measures and appropriate treatments to minimize the risks of complications for the mother and fetus. It is critical that pregnant women have regular prenatal checkups and are aware of the risks associated with Zika virus infection, taking preventive measures to avoid infection. Appropriate treatment may include careful monitoring of the mother and fetus, treatment of symptoms, and evaluation of possible complications. A multidisciplinary approach involving health professionals, governments, non-governmental organizations and the population in general is essential to ensure the health and well-being of the mother and baby and to minimize the risks of complications during pregnancy and after childbirth.
