Abstract

The purpose of this article is to show how the field of disability education integrates the concept of disability as a social illness. Through a review of key concepts of the disability model of disability, the article traces the genesis of the concept of disability as a limitation of participation in the disability process, as adopted by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. by Brazil in 2008.
